¡Convocatoria abierta! Postula al 16ª Concurso Internacional Juan Downey
- Hasta el 30 de junio se puede postular a la sección competitiva del certamen, compuesta de tres líneas: Local, Internacional y Narrativas Interactivas. Cada una de ellas tendrá un(a) ganador(a) que recibirá un premio de mil dólares (USD$ 1.000).
Realizado desde 1993 Corporación Chilena de Video (CChV) en homenaje al artista chileno Juan Downey (1940-1993), este certamen ha constituido una de las actividades emblemáticas de la Bienal de Artes Mediales de Santiago, dando visibilidad a nuevas propuestas de videoarte en la escena local e internacional, con sus particulares cambios en formatos, lenguajes y tecnologías.
En su décimo sexta versión, la iniciativa – que cuenta con el financiamiento del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio a través de su Programa de Apoyo a Organizaciones Culturales Colaboradoras y el Fondo de Fomento Audiovisual 2022- considera tres categorías de participación, cada una de ellas tendrá un(a) ganador(a) que recibirá un premio de mil dólares (USD$ 1.000).
Las líneas son las siguientes:
Línea internacional. Dedicada a obras audiovisuales concebidas para ser presentadas en una única pantalla y realizadas por personas provenientes de todo el mundo. Dentro de esta categoría se espera que las obras se ubiquen en el campo del videoarte, la animación experimental, ensayos y/o géneros audiovisuales no tradicionales.
Línea Local. Dedicada a obras audiovisuales concebidas para ser presentadas en una única pantalla, realizadas por personas chilenas y/o residentes en Chile, u obras ligadas al país por su temática y/o conceptualización. Se espera que los trabajos postulados cuenten con un perfil de corte experimental, artístico, y conceptual, así como reflexiones sobre el territorio que habitamos. Al menos la mitad de las obras seleccionadas serán de regiones.
Línea Narrativas Expandidas. Dedicada a obras que escapan del formato monocanal e incursionan en nuevas tecnologías y lenguajes, expandiendo los campos de acción del audiovisual. Dentro de esta sección pueden participar todas aquellas obras que tengan como plataforma la web y/o sean accesibles a través de internet. También aquellas que se hayan producido para dispositivos móviles o cuenten con algún grado de interactividad.

The 16th Juan Downey International Contest opens its applications!

The Juan Downey International Contest has been held since 1993 by the Chilean Corporation of Video and Electronic Arts (CChV) as a tribute to the Chilean architect and artist Juan Downey (1940-1993), who was a pioneer in video art, video essay, expanded cinema and interactive installations. With a 29-year history, this event is an important instance for video art in the local and international scene, which shows the changes in formats, languages and technologies in the field. The initiative is financed by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, through its Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations and Audiovisual Development Fund 2022.
The Corporation invites the audiovisual arts community in Chile and the world to participate in this historic contest, which promotes and rewards artists who base their work on videographic culture and aesthetics, media arts, interactive narratives and the creative work with contemporary technologies.
The contest has 3 categories of participation:
International Category. Dedicated to audiovisual works conceived to be presented on a single screen, from all over the world. Works in this category must be located in the field of video art, experimental animation, essays and/or non-traditional audiovisual genres.
Local Category. Dedicated to audiovisual works conceived to be presented on a single screen, made by Chileans and/or residents, or works linked to the country due to their theme and/or conceptualization. These works must have an experimental, artistic and conceptual profile, and reflections about the territory we inhabit. At least 50% of selected works will be works from regions of Chile.
Expanded Narratives Category. Dedicated to works outside the single-channel format and that experiment with new technologies and audiovisual languages. Works that have the web as a platform and/or are accessible through the internet can participate. Also those that have been produced for mobile devices or have some degree of interactivity.
The Local category is reserved exclusively for people residing in Chile or works that are linked to the country due to their theme and conceptualization. People from all over the world can participate in the International and Expanded Narrative categories.
There will be a final award jury for each contest line, made up of experts in the area of media arts, expanded narratives and creative work with contemporary technologies. Each category will have a winner who will receive a prize of one thousand dollars (USD$1,000).
